I gotta run, speak to you later'He hung upI stood where I was grinning from ear to ear...I've been called a lot names and described in many ways but this was different. I've heard you're nice, unassuming, down to earth, super cool... You're a bitch... yes I've heard that ;) but I don't remember ever being called or described as lovely. There's something so sincere and sweet about it.Lovely Linda...hmmm, I like it!09 will be such a great year for me...and for you. Yes YOU. I'm talking to you, God will bless you so much this year it will bring tears to your eyes...Whether you're a lovely person or not ;)Speaking of lovely people, here's one lady I think is incredibly lovely, actress Rita Dominic. Before I got to know her I thought she was probably one of those stuck up famous ladies, but she blew me away with her simplicity and down to earth nature. I went to a Xmas party (The only party I attended this Xmas...lol) she hosted a few days ago at her house and I had an incredible time hanging out with her and her friends. She's courteous, nice and has absolutely no airs about her. A really lovely lady.Another Lady that's after my heart is Emem Ema of KUSH. I'm a fairly nice person but Emem showed me a side to being nice that I haven't seen in a bit. Spoke to her a few days ago and was blown away by her humility and how much she appreciates people. Emem, also known as Mem'O has a hit single GREENLIGHT that's blazing hot. Y'all need to check it out.OK, to the koko of the day...I told y'all about the Face of West African Fashion Week contest that took place a few weeks back.
Hope you all are having a beautiful holiday. I'm having so much fun boring myself to death in this flat...lol. Christmas used to be so much fun, what happened? Oh yeah, I think I know what happened, my sibblings grew up. A few years ago, xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day were strictly for me and my sibblings. They'd get into my car and we'll drive around Lagos sight seeing, shopping, visiting fun places like the beach, the Apapa Amusement park (wonder if that place is still functional), go see a movie, have lunch at an expensive restaurant (I used to save for months for my xmas trips with my sibblings), and this happened for so many years until...was it two years ago? I told them 'hey guys get ready we're going to so so and so place', they looked at me and said 'you and who? please find your own way and we'll do the same'. lol. My sisters grew up...even my 16yr old baby sister now wants to hang out with her friends instead of her darling older sister...oh well, what can a girl do? ;) I have to find ways to entertainment myself now I guess...Anyway, I'd like to say a big thank you and happy holidays to everyone who sent me a text message yesterday. My sis told me I got a lot of Merry Xmas messages from my blog readers and facebook pals...I haven't read your messages 'cos I'm not around her, but I will and I appreciate you guys. Gracias!Speaking of a fun xmas, I hear Calabar is the place to be. I've never been there but I've seen pictures from their xmas carnivals and what fun it is...If you don't believe me then check out pix from their 08 Calabar Carnival...Rita Dominic Rita Dominic, Ramsey Noah, Pete Edochie, Florence Ita-Giwa Ramsey NoahThe Governor of the StatePix thanks to Ekpo Ekpo...I also hear there's another carnival going on right now in that state. It started 8:00am this morning and it will continue till 11:55pm Sunday, December 28, 2008.Location is Cross River State,Nigeria. The Street is Mary Slessor Ave.-Ndidem Usang Iso Road-Mcc Road-Murtala Mohammed HighwayI hear a lot of celebs are there. I wish I was there instead of this boring Lagos. Oh well, maybe next year. Will definitely get you pictures from the carnival...From that to something that isn't xmas-like ;)The former EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu has been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force. First he was demoted, now dismissed. Critics say he was selective while discharging his duites while serving as EFCC chairman. I'm going to come back to this subject after xmas 'cos there's a lot I don't understand about this case...From that to another man who isn't spending xmas with his family...EFCC has arraigned former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode on a 47 count charge of embezzlement, something to the tune of about N230 million. Femi Fani Kayode was also a former Culture and Tourism Minister. If he's convicted, it's life inprisonment according to lawyer Festus Keyamo. He's been remanded in prison till Dec 29th.Sad! I used to like listening to him speak...Anyway, merry xmas to everyone in prison and hospitals. God be with you all.And finally here's something someone sent to me that I'd like to share with you all, especially the ladies. Check it out...If a man wants you...If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better.Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend. Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better. The only person you can control in a relationship is you.Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently?Always have your own set of friends separate from his.Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.If something bothers you, speak up.Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later. You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.Never let a man define who you are.Never borrow someone else's man. If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you.A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.All men are NOT dogs. You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two-way street. You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship. You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr. Right.Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him- he takes it for granted.Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.Share this with other ladies and to men who can handle it....You'll make someone SMILE, another RETHINK her choices, and another woman PREPARE. What stood out for me was 'You're not supposed to be friends with an ex who didnt treat you well'. I don't know if I agree with that statement. I'm friends with an ex who didn't treat me well because I believe that when you hold resentment toward another person, you are bound to that person by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free. I'm a big advocate for forgiveness. But that's just me...who agrees that you shouldn't be friends with an ex who didn't treat you well?Did you learn anything from this article?Pls share your thoughts.Meanwhile if you want to know the Top 100 People, Places, Events and Things That Shaped 2008, check it out here...http://ayenithegreat.wordpress.com/Once again...HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!See y'all later!Kisses!nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

The album was released by T.Joe on thursday Dec 11th. He released a few copies which he intended using to test the market. The first batch of 100, 000 copies entered the market at 4:47pm and before the close of business in Alaba International market the same day, the album sold out.Great news. Can't wait to get my hands on that album. Y'all should also check it out.PRESS RELEASE FOR MEM'ONot sure if you can define or refer to her as a new artiste. She decided to focus on discovering and developing talent out of a passion for the industry and what it portends. This led to the birth of one of the pioneer Creative Arts Management Company in Nigeria, ONE Integrated Management Co, she won the first ever British Council, International Young Music Entrepreneur (Nigeria) Award in 2006, was nominated as Young Entreprenur of the year at the 2007 Future Awards and has been a major contributor to the development of the Nigerian entertainment Industry. All this is asides the fact that she is a part of the history making, industry defining, Nigerian International group KUSH.Most people know her as Emem Ema but as an artiste, she'd rather be known as Mem'O! When the world wondered when would she drop her own solo album she never gave into the pressure. Apparently, one phone call from her group member and producer extraordinaire, Dapo Torimiro sealed the deal. For thise who do not know, Dapo is a member of KUSH and has recently been responsible for hits like John Legend's "Quickly", Brandy's "Torn Down", David Archuleta's "Running" and co wrote Obama's Campaign song, "Change".
Hi people, hope y'all are having an incredible time. I'm having a swell time camping out with friends on the Island. My older sis has this flat on the Island that I usually take over by this time of the year, 'cos she likes to spend her Christmas abroad. Been here since Wednesday, kinda stopped working from the office. My guys come over here to talk to me about work and stuff and my mum has been calling my phone non stop, come home she says, come home and do what? Island sweet pass Surulere, leave me alone abeg...lolSo here's what I want us to talk about today. Is it OK for a single girl to LIVE ALONE? Is there anything wrong with it? Especially when your parents live in the same city? Some people have been encouraging me to rent my own flat and move out of my parents house. I've totally refused and I'm adamant about it...I want to go from my father's house to my husband's house, living alone is not something that I've ever considered, but is there anything wrong with it?Pls share your thoughts. Also, I got an email from someone asking how much it will cost for her to put stuff on my blog...HOW MUCH??? I promised a few friends that I was going to go with them to this show, but when it came time to go....well, I have to do something about my lack of interest in going to social events...even weddings, and birthdays, and ...oh, I'm such a sad person...lolEnough writing, enjoy the pix...Thanks to purefoto.comAli Baba and Julius AgwuWildchild and BasketMouthWho's this?Julius Djinee and MIBanky WNaeto CComedian JediKaffy and her girls?Tuface and Sound SultanPSquareFaceWande Coal and DbanjIkechukwuDbanj and KaffyThat's it. The Zain Dynamix AwardsEnjoy...The Kokomaster himself. From that to something a little sad...I don't want to believe it but the story making the rounds now have it that that Janet and JD have called it quits.Read the story below... Janet Jackson has split up with her long-term record producer boyfriend Jermaine Dupri, according to tabloid reports. The couple has been an item for four years, and was only recently rumored to be planning to marry and start a family together. However the National Enquirer claims Jackson and Dupri began battling over the failure of her recent tour, which he managed, and which ended with a string of canceled concerts because of illness and reports of poor ticket sales. And sources tell the tabloid the 36-year-old has moved out of the superstar's Los Angeles home, and they have agreed to spend time apart. The insider says, "Janet and Jermaine finally hit a wall. They were fighting over his management of her career. In the end, she decided to make a break."Representatives for the two have yet to comment on the reports.Hopefully it's not true...MTV Man of the YearDwayne Michael Carter Jr. is no longer just your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. In fact, considering the way he's been carrying around a guitar lately, you could be forgiven for wondering if he event wants to be a rapper anymore. But the fact remains that for 12 long months, no one dominated hip-hop like Wayne did. No one sold more records, generated more headlines or appeared on as many tracks. No one flooded the market with as much product, and - in a genre loaded with compelling characters - no one was as mercurial, controversial, hilarious and, well, bizarre as Weezy was.I concur.Tuface's new albumHis new album is now in stores, go grab your own copyPhoto of the dayMadonna...without make-upNot bad...only now I believe she's 50...lolThought of the dayTo wish you were someone else is to waste the person you are.Waiting for your opinion on LIVING SINGLE...See y'all in a bit.Have a ball!nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

When I tried again to calm him down, he started abusing me and boasted that my being an actor does not mean he cannot deal with me and nothing would happen. I had not finished saying this when he brought out a sharp object and stabbed me in the eye at a close range and I immediately passed out."Elebuwa, further disclosed that when this happened, an angry mob that had already gathered descended on Dike, and were about lynching him, when some policemen came and whisked him away to Aguda Police Station, Surulere. At the station an officer who pleaded for anonymity confirmed the incident to Daily Sun and disclosed that Dike was detained for three days, before being released on bail. Some 91 people in the border town have been killed by the disease, while 3,546 are suspected to be suffering from it. The latest toll came even as the United States and Britain were expected to lobby the UN Security Council to turn up the heat on Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. But Harare has vowed to thwart western efforts to put Zimbabwe on the Security Council agenda, saying it was not a threat to international security.
Hi people, I'm back. Sorry for my long absence. There's just so much going on with me right now... good things ;).Hope y'all are doing great and looking forward to an incredible Xmas, the best of many more to come for us all. Some people actually think I'm a therapist or something like it lol, I'm always getting emotional emails from people asking for advise and etc. Some I try to help, others I have absolutely no idea what to say to them.Like this one I got a few days ago from a reader of this blog. She asked me to share her dilemma with y'all and seek your advise. Her exact words..."My unmarried younger sister is pimping girls for my husband and his friends. What do I do?"Of course it was a long email explaining a lot of things but this is basically the long and short of it.So what's actually the problem you may wonder. That her sister is a pimp or that she's pimping for her husband? Both I guess.I'm totally against pimping girls. As a modeling agent, I get requests like that sometimes from clients, but I tell them without mincing words that I'll never do it. I won't participate in messing any girl up. That would have to be entirely her own doing. There are those who specialise in pimping, but like they say, to each his own. So what do you do if you find out that your own sister is supplying girls to your husband? I can't even imagine it. How can you disrespect your own sister like that? So unfair. If you have any advise for her, please send us a comment.Meanwhile check this out...House of Makeda Exhibition Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 4:00pm to Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 7:00pmLocation: Didi Museum, 175 Akin Adesola St, Victoria IslandContact: 07056289509 Email: houseofmakeda@yahoo.comIt's the beginning of a new movement in style! Maybe you can learn a thing or two from her. She spoke to Abiola Aloba of Encomium magazine.Hear her..."My frame of mind helps me stay young. Don't write yourself off because of age. I want to encourage the upcoming younger ones to look forward to old age, not to be scared of age. What is age? So far as you are alive, you should strive to look good, not look young. I don't want to be young, I keep saying that every day. It took me a long time to grow, but it's important that you continue to look good so that young girls will not be afraid of age. Don't be afraid of age so long as you can still be productive. It's a thing of the mind, but make an effort to be healthy and fit. You will be healthy and fit if you watch what you eat and drink, what you do, how much you exercise your body and your frame of mind"Well said.Did you know this about... Igbo Ora? - Desola Bakare of Encomium magazineDid you know that Igbo Ora in Western Nigeria has the largest population of twins in the World? Igbo Ora, a sleepy town in Oyo State has five times the normal average number of twins births in the population. The average number of twins born per 1000 in the world is five. In Igbo Ora, the average is 155 twin births per 1000. That's the largest percentage anywhere in the world. Researchers have been debating for years why the people in Yoruba land has the monopoly of twin births.According to one study, it is believed it has to do with diet. Apparently yam, a vital staple food in Western Nigeria (Iyan, Amala etc) contains large amounts of natural estrogen, the hormone responsible for egg release in women. It is thought that the diet of these yams cause in many cases more than one egg to be released in women, thereby resulting in large number of twins. The town is called the 'twin capital' of the world.I never knew this...found it fascinating and thought to share...Julius Agwu's Crack Ya Ribs...For those returning home for xmas, if you're looking for a place to unwind and have the fun of your life, be sure to be at Julius Agwu's Crack Ya RibsDate: Sun Dec 14thVenue: Expo Centre, Ocean View, V/ITime: 2pm (N3, 000), 6pm (N5, 000), VIP 10, 000I'm definitely going to be there...catch y'all there! And check out the fun pictures of the top Comedian's trip to the US with his beautiful wife IbiereLove nwantin tiPix thanks to Julius Agwu...The 2009 Grammy NominationsThe countdown to music's biggest night has officially begun!
Panacea pan-uh-SEE-uh, noun:Segun Aranmolate1. A remedy for all diseases, problems, or evils; a universal medicine; a cure-all.#Over the years, I have come to the simple conclusion that showing genuine compassion to the less-fortunate and continually striving to better one's community is the panacea for self-hopelessness. -SHEG ARANMOLATEThe young man woke up in the morning with his ideas lurking in his head. Cuddled up in his bed, he thought about his family and all the great plans he wanted to execute. As he was reflecting in his dank, inhospitable cell room, one of his masked captors walked into the room with a pencil and blank piece of paper in his hand. He handed the writing utensils to the young man and told him to write his last rites, as it was time for him to meet his creator. As soon as the young man heard those words, his mouth became dry and there was a burning sensation in the back of his throat. His hands trembled as he held the crumpled paper in his left and the crooked pencil in his right. Sweat trickling down his forehead; he began to write his final legacy - five things I will do differently.Wake: I will wake up every morning and smile at the world. I will be glad for the chance to see yet another day, and most especially I will be grateful for the "gift of life."Eat: I will cherish every meal I receive. I will eat healthy delicious meals and I will take my time to savor the complex flavors of each meal. My body is divine and it surely deserves the finest of foods.Love: I will develop my innate ability to Love myself and to Love others selflessly, as Love is the universal language that all humans understand.Work: I will establish my identity at work and I will let my purpose of "positively improving humanity," fuel my creativity and talents. I will view success not through the eyes of an epicure, but through the eyes of a famished individual who has been fed and empowered with the wisdom of life.Sleep: At the end of each day, I will lie in my bed and I will sleep like a baby because if life is worth living then it must be worth dreaming as well. Furthermore, I cannot dream without sleep!Upon writing these words, the young man carefully folded the piece of paper and handed it to his captor. He smiled and felt calm. He was at peace with himself because he realized that he had lived a great life and completed his legacy. It was now time to celebrate his life.-SHEG ARANMOLATE . -Author, iACTUATE: 100 days of Inspiration 25 year old Segun is a model, author and motivational speaker.THE FUTURE AWARDS WRAPS UP TOURa4 UNVEILS DATE!- The Awards holds on the 17th and 18th of January- "Their work is more than impressivea4 it is inspiring," - Reuben AbatiWrapping up a whirlwind and eagerly followed tour around the country, the organizers of The Future Awards headed to the UK in a series of presentations to spread the word about Nigeria's biggest youth event."We are extremely proud of ourselves. We never tire of stating that we are making history, doing something pacesetting in the history of any awards process in Nigeria." said Emilia Asim-Ita, the Award's PR Director, "The ultimate plan for the town, and the basic idea, is to go to all 36 states in the country, and engage as many Nigerian youth as possible, generate conversation about Nigeria taking this message of hope and change and inspiration and making sure that youth from every part are inter-connected with the idea that youths can change Nigeria in spite of the difficult environment. We, after all, are a testimony to that: if we could do these town halls as planned without one kobo of sponsorship, then you know, you just have to believe"...Next Naija Entertainment News...Keep a date...wink!nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

Sigmund Freud's Priorities The fun is when you do it first time honestly without looking at the answer.Try it...Five things are happening in your house at the same time. In which sequence would you solve them?1. The telephone is ringing!2. The baby is crying!3. Some one's knocking or calling you from the front door!4. You hung the clothes out to dry and it is beginning to rain!5. You left the tap on in the kitchen and the water is already overflowing! In which sequence would you solve these problems? Write your sequence from 1 to 5, then scroll below and check how your decisions were made. BE HONEST to yourself! It's a Crazy Circle There are a few of us who don't particularly hold ourselves in high regard...mostly because people have told us too many negative things about ourselves...to our faces and behind our backs. When a lot of people tell you you're worthless, you start to believe it, and somewhere along the way you start having doubts about the beautiful person you really are.Can I console you?Someone came to see me at the office yesterday, while talking business a name came up, and for at least 30 minutes all he did was a count down of the top 20 reasons why this person was an ASS. He said things about this other person that I can't repeat anywhere else. It was dirty and uncalled for. I just sat there and listened wondering how many times someone somewhere has counted twenty things they didn't like about me.Interestingly, immediately he left, another guy came into my office and didn't understand why I would grant audience to the guy who just left. "He's a failure" this new guy started, and for at least 10 minutes he mentioned so many reasons why he's not a person to be associated with. And like before I just sat there and listened. But you know the funny thing? This new guy sitting in front is one of the few people I just tolerate. Every time I see him, I almost ask him to go see a psychiatrist..., he's always acting like there's something wrong with him upstairs...lol. Then this morning, three models came to the office to pick up their cheques and while waiting at the reception, I heard them talking negatively about another model who they felt sold out. When my sister eventually came to the office, I asked her about the situation with the model they were talking about, and she told me not to pay any attention to the three models, and she said something about one of them in particular that left me stunned. A few hours later, someone called me to report my sister to me...I dropped the phone and called my publicist, Niyi Tabiti, and he told me some things that I do that he doesn't like...That was when I realised what a crazy circle it really is...everytime you talk about someone, someone else talks about you.For everyone who thinks you're stupid, there are ten people who think they're foolish. For everyone who tells you you're uncultured, be rest assured that there's someone somewhere who thinks they are crude. Every time people gather around and talk about you, best believe there are people gathered somewhere talking about everyone one of them. I guess this means no one is perfect. So every time someone says nonsense about you, don't let it phase you, instead imagine the 10's of people saying something negative about them at that moment. That's the circle! And there are no exceptions. No matter how good you are, there's someone who doesn't like you. Sometimes they don't have a reason, they don't need one, they just love to HATE!So don't let what people say to your face or behind your back make a difference to you. She thinks you're crazy? It's OK, someone else thinks she's an idiot...lolPhoto of the day...Hollywood actor/model...Oris ErhueroAnd yes, what you see is what I saw...If only we can LOOK.....AND TOUCH! lolAnyway, here's the answer to Freud's Priorities: Every individual point represents something in your life. On the list you can see which meaning every point has:1. Telephone represents Work2. Baby represents Family3. Door represents Friends4. Clothes represent Money5. Tap represents Sex Your chosen sequence determines the priorities in your life. Now....did you turn off the tap first ?Naija Entertainment news next. This time you'll get it...I promise!Kisses everyone!nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

The event held on Saturday, the 1st of November. The massively successful nation tour that began after the launch event on the 30th of September now has just one final stop - in the south-west zone of the country. The FAB Bella's website http://www.bellanaija.com/For now I want to talk about something a little delicate. I try as much as possible to stay away from religious matters but I have to bring this up for discussion, 'cos it's been bugging me for a bit now. It's Tithe Offering.Tithe Offerings involves giving a Tenth of all our produce, harvest, Earnings or income each month or year to our Almighty God as a humble gesture of honor, loyalty, faithfulness, reverence and respect to GodBut the thing is; I've never done it because I don't believe in it.Does that make me a bad person? Am I wrong not to believe in this? What do you guys think about Tithe offering?Thought of the dayPrayer is an open line to Heaven. Dozens of men stoned Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow to death Oct. 27 in a stadium packed with 1,000 spectators in the southern port city of Kismayo, Amnesty International and Somali media reported, citing witnesses. The Islamic militia in charge of Kismayo had accused her of adultery after she reported that three men had raped her, the rights group said. Initial local media reports said Duhulow was 23, but her father told Amnesty International she was 13. Some of the Somali journalists who first reported the killing later told Amnesty International that they had reported she was 23 based upon her physical appearance.Read the full story here...http://www.javno.com/en/world/clanak.php?id=199949How the hell can we stone a 13 year old girl to death...while 1,000 people watch?
Woke up around 3am this morning to watch the US election. And I can't begin to express how I felt when Obama was announced the winner.I know in the days, months and even years to come, articles will be written, opinions will be voiced, views will be aired about such an extraordinary and defining moment in the history of America and indeed the world. I'm looking forward to reading and hearing all these. But for now I will tell you guys what an Obama win means to me...What it tells me...An Obama win tells me that 'anything is possible'It tells me that if we work hard enough, believe well enough, we can achieve anything. It tells me that if Obama can beat 'race', a phenomenon that has held us back as a people for many years, then you and I can beat anything. If Obama can do the 'impossible', you and I can do same.We can effect changeWe can begin a revolutionWe can take a place in historyWe can inspireAn obama win tells me that we can be as great as we want to beWe can reach as far as we want to reachWe can go anywhere we want to goBUT above all, an Obama win tells me...that MIRACLES do happen.God bless America, Nigeria and everywhere else. nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

Let me start by saying happy new month to everyone. And I'm so so sorry for being a little absent here. Had to travel out of Lagos for a couple of days to choreograph a show. There are lots of shows going on in Naija right now and a few of them I have to co-ordinate.I love my job! lolHope everyone's doing so well. Our Mag's fourth edition is finally out...it took forever didn't it? lol. Well, we encountered a few problems along the way. The advertisers weren't ready at the time we were ready to go for printing...so we had to chill. We also increased the number of copies, and the cost ran into well over a million and you know how long it takes to raise a million plus. And the printers here don't release magazines until you've finished payment. (Thank God I do other things, otherwise this magazine will wreck me...lol)Anyway, we finally did it! And it only gets easier from now onFrom next year, it will be a bi-monthly magazine...one day it will be monthly...God help us!The fourth edition will be hitting the stores in a couple of days. As soon as our marketers and distributors spread it around, I'll let y'all know where you can get them. Please support your girl by buying a copy for yourself and a friend. You'll love this edition I promise. One of the hardest things in publishing a magazine is getting adverts, especially if the mag is relatively new... but we managed to get a few. I'd like to say a big thank you to all the companies that believed in us enough to give us adverts.Amigos HairGentle TouchAdandiigboMARS Cosmetics Lacasera DrinkSilverbird (These guys are doing so much for us it's stupid...gracias!)Prestige CosmeticsBTW, I shot this job for the cosmetics company. I came up with the concept, provided the model, the costume, did the make-up, took her to the studio, directed the shoot and produced this. I try abi? lolWe've already started working on our fifth edition which we hope will be out in December/January, so please if there's anyone out there who will like to write for us on any topic whatsoever, reach me at lindaikeji@gmail.com. We really need help. Many thanks.Choose a coverSo here are the two options we have for the cover for the next issueWhich cover should we go for?Pls say cover 1, pls pls pls. You know I go with your opinions so don't break my heart.Cover 1Cover 2The girl on the cover is Oby Ezenduka, one of the top models in Nigeria currently. She's also a top lawyer-to-be. (She's in law school).Note: This is not the final thing...we might be changing background, colours and stuff, if you have any suggestions pls feel free to pass it on and if there's anything on the cover you think needs to be improved on...please let us know.So what do you say? Cover 1, or 2 and why?Waiting...nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

I have a friend who's dad has 6 children from 5 different women. He had two in his 20's, later got married, had two with his wife, while married, had another kid outside his marriage. Wife found out and left him. He had another one in his 50's with a fifth baby mama. Now he's in his 60's, very sick, needs serious medical attention and only two of his six children give a shit. His first born child says he's seen his dad only three times in his entire life. He hardly visited while he was growing up...in fact he denied the child as his initially. The second has never seen him 'cos her mum took her abroad when she was a toddler. Th 3rd and 4th are the ones who give a shit...he married their mum and they grew up with him.The 5th (my friend) is married to a rich dude, but doesn't acknowledge the man as her father. He had her while still married so he kinda never really acknowledged her as his daughter. The last is just a teenager. He too doesn't give a shit. He, like his half brothers and sisters say he never played any role in their lives. They all grew up with different fathers. Now he needs them to take care of his health and put food on his table. The only two who care don't have that much money so they went to all their half brothers and sisters and every single one of them turned their back on their father...Are the children justified?Photo of the dayP Diddy and his twin girls. Fresh off a highly successful Town Hall meeting in the city of Abuja, The Future.. Awards continues its much-anticipated national tour of the nationa4a4s six geo-political zones, to take the message of the Awards to youths at the grassroots and to ensure that nominations and participation in the process comes from all over the country. The next stop is the Benin Town Hall Meeting, which holds on Wednesday the 22nd of October at the Sports Complex of the University of Benin. It holds at 6pm.The innovative idea of a Town Hall meeting is a rare opportunity for youths across the country to interrogate the award process, connect deeper with it, and get information on how to nominate, amongst others. Nominations for the Awards opened on the 1st of October 2008, and are ongoing now until the 31st of October 2008 on the site http://www.thefuturenigeria.com/.a4AIt is important to note that this is the only national award that has done a thing like this,a4 says Emilia Asim-Ita, the PR Director, a4ANigerians are used to TV shows and concerts doing roadshows across the country but not awards. It is unfortunate that we do not yet have sponsorship for these road shows and the costs are huge, but The Future Awards is more than just another award, this is about the future of our country, and so it is important to display the commitment necessary. And we are proud of the work that we have managed to do with some of our partners around the country. The question is: Is Nigeria ready for what its youth are capable of?a4 The Benin Town Hall Meeting holds in conjunction with Music Mix TV show, CFI Benin City, and Nigeria International. With this national tour, The Future Awards dispels any remaining doubts about its truly national character and, as usual, sets another high standard for Awards organization and credibility. It will be recalled that this trend started last year when three of its major winners were young people from Northern Nigeria, who were not based in Lagos. Still ahead for the tour are Calabar, Enugu, Kaduna, and Ibadan. Now in its 4th year, The Future Awards has proven itself as the nationa4a4s most powerful vehicle for youth culture and youth empowerment. It celebrates young Nigerian achievers by the yearly awards, which rewards the brightest and best youths between the ages of 18 and 31.The 2008 edition had in attendance Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, World Bank Vice President, and a representative of the Nigerian Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Media partners for the event include Africa Magic, Channels TV, Silverbird, Soundcity, Nigezie, TV Continental, The Guardian, Genevieve, The Sun, Rhythm 93.7, and Zuma FM.Introducing: Dapo TorimiroDapo is a super-talented musician who has come a long way with his career in the States. For those very familiar with the Nigerian-based music group KUSH; that group was his debut in the U.S. music market years ago. The group was very well-received both in Nigeria and amongst Nigerians in the States, and they created a lot of buzz with their single and video for their song "Let's Live Together." When the group disbanded, each of the members went their separate ways, and the girls in the group made a name for themselves in Nigeria. A lot of people have been wondering what happened to Dapo--the only guy in the group. Well, here's his press release.Nigerian Songwriter/Producer Dapo Torimiro ''Quickly'' Breaks Onto the R&B/Pop Music Scene With Hot New Songs for John Legend, Brandy and David Archuleta LOS ANGELES, CA -- October 22, 2008 -- You probably haven't heard of Nigerian-born songwriter/producer Dapo Torimiro (http://www.dapomiroworks.com/), but that is about to change with the recent placement of high-profile singles on various top R&B/pop artists' albums. The album release dates fall within weeks of each other, but Torimiro's first break is placing the song ''Quickly'' on five-time Grammy winner John Legend's third studio album, EVOLVER, which will hit the streets on October 28. Featuring multi-platinum-selling artist Brandy, ''Quickly'' has received early industry buzz as not only an inspired, sleek duet featuring R&B/pop music's leading artists, but also as one of the album's stand-out gems. Later this Fall 2008, Torimiro will also enjoy credit for other upcoming tracks, including ''Running'' on David Archuleta's self-titled debut album (11/11/08) -- his first since becoming runner-up on American Idol in June 2008 -- and ''Torn Down'' from Brandy's highly-anticipated album, HUMAN (12/9/08), which she describes as her most personal album to date. A Yamaha-endorsed artist, Torimiro has been recognized by many as a talented multi-instrumentalist and musical catalyst, and he was previously sought after by the industry's top-notch artists to exhibit his skills as a touring and studio musician as well as to score various television and film projects. In 2006, Lauryn Hill selected him to tour with her as her keyboardist for several months, and he also had the opportunity to tour with Lalah Hathaway and perform with the legendary Stevie Wonder. Leaving his role as a touring musician behind him, Torimiro enthusiastically embraces the realization of his ultimate goal: songwriting and producing for major artists. "It's a great opportunity and a dream come true to be able to make the transition from being a touring and studio musician to songwriting and producing for artists that I've always been a fan of. It's great to go from being a fan to a collaborator," he expresses. Torimiro's musical and production abilities are so diverse that no two songs sound alike. Whether he's writing and producing a jazz song or a rock song, an R&B song, or a gospel song, one thing remains constant--the end product will be both absolutely unique and yet authentic to its genre. In the midst of being pursued by various respected artists with whom he has cultivated relationships, Torimiro also recognizes the value of collaborating with other talented producers. The gifted musician has recently teamed up with the award-winning production duo Midi Mafia (50 Cent, Fantasia) in Los Angeles to collaborate on various projects. Of the super-producers' recent collaboration with Torimiro, Bruce Waynne of Midi Mafia says, "He brings something different to the table. You have to do something very special and unique for us to decide to work with you." Elaborating further, he explains, "He plays multiple instruments, and he's not just a beat guy. He's someone who can also start from scratch, but he does it his own way, from his own perspective. He brings a lot of musicality and a lot of theory to the mix. His friend asked him why he was looking depressed and he replied, "Some things you just can't explain. This morning I was outside milking. As soon as the bucket was filled, the cow kicked it down with his left foot so I tied his left foot to a pole. I began to fill up the bucket again and he kicked it down with his right foot, so I tied his right foot to a pole too. As soon as I finished milkin'' him again he knocked down the bucket with his tail and I took off my belt and tied up his tail with my belt. As I was tying up his tail, my pants dropped down, then my wife came out and well, trust me, some things you just can't explain!See y'all later. nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

I was going to give Naija Entertainment News but I got into an arguement with my sisters this morning about something we read in City People Magazine. Decided to bring it here...to discuss. It's a very sensitive issue and something a lot of us women can learn from. It's about Lola Omotayo and Peter Okoye of P-SQUARE. Y'all know they had a baby together recently and there's been a lot of talk on the side and in the media about them having a baby out of wedluck. In City People this week, Peter granted an interview talking about his joy as a father and his intentions towards lola, his baby mama.Excerpt...For those that thought it wasn't right and those that were disappointed, what was your comment?Peter "I have heard series of things and people didn't want to come out straight to say anything. The good thing is that they were never against me going out with Lola. Most people were thinking the whole thing will disrupt my career and all that. That was what everyone was concerned about. In your perception, how do you think being a father will affect your career?Peter "I was thinking it was going to affect my career, but now, within a short period of time, I don't think it will affect me. I can take care of my child"At Lola's age, her family would have expected that she gets married before she gives birthPeter "Age is just a number. I'm happy her parents are very understanding people and likewise my parents. Will you two someday get married?Peter "No one has talked about that. People actually thought that I am married but I'm not married. Everyone knows I'm single but the fact is that if God permits, fine. I think children are blessings from God."Now that she has a child for you, do you want to marry this woman?Peter "One way or the other everyone is going to get married one day. Even when you meet a girl today as a girlfriend, you can imagining her as a wife, so we all have that in mind. My time would always come"Here's what Paul had to say...Are you looking forward to doing something like this?Paul "It's a great thing but it has to be done the proper way. The right way. For me, my own plan will have to wait till I get married"Do you think that Peter having a baby will affect the group in any way?Paul "Well, I don't think it would affect the group at all because it's not as if P-SQUARE said if we get married, we wold quit music. Music is just there, it's not like if you have a child, you can't contest or anything. It will not affect except Peter allows it. Like when we have concerts and Peter starts thinking that today is my son's birthday and all that but that can't happen"Do you think that in the nearest future, Peter would marry Lola?Paul "I think when the relationship started but now, I don't think so. That's what I feel"So here's what I want us to discuss as mature women. If you're 35years old and you've been in a relationship with a man for 4 years... and you start to realise he's not thinking seriously about settling down, what would you do?Bear in mind that you are:A. Successful, so you can take care of a childB. 35 years oldC. Been with this man for 4 yearsD. He's not trying to break up with you...just ain't ready to commitE. Starting all over again isn't easy...especially at that age.No woman really wants to have a child out of wedluck (I stand to be corrected)...but like they say, shit happens. So if you find yourself in this situation, would you end the relationship or do what Lola Omotayo did, get pregnant and have a baby?I'm asking this 'cos I have an aunt who's 37 years old and has been dating same guy for 8 years now...no talk of marriage from him and I'm thinking maybe she should just have a baby and Fuuk marriage? What do you guys think?nigerianbloggers.com

3 Vote(s)

I got an email some days ago that left me numb for a few seconds. Someone I don't know asked me a question that I just couldn't answer. I asked permission to put it on my blog and seek advice from you all and she said it's ok. The email was actually long with her explaining a lot of things that I am going to keep private but here's the long and short of it.Some weeks ago, she gave birth to a deformed baby who doctors say will need medical attention for the rest of his life. The child is barely alive, breathing through tubes and all. She wants to tell the doctors to take out the tubes and let the child die peacefully because she thinks it's unfair to want a deformed child to live when he will most probably be unhappy through out his life. She also doesn't want a deformed baby mostly because she can't take care of one permanently. She says she's a single mum. The thing is, she feels guilty as hell and wants to know if she's making the right decision...so she came to me.This is beyond me so I'm coming to you guys.Personally I think that child deserves a chance to live. Whether deformed or not. I saw a man on TV sometime ago with no arms, but he cooks, drives, and does everything with his legs. Imagine if his mum had killed him when he was born. It's sad this lady would even consider killing her own baby. But maybe I don't get it...maybe his deformity is so bad that if the baby could talk, he would ask to be killed. I don't know...don't know what else to say. What do you guys think and what advice can you give her?nigerianbloggers.com

2 Vote(s)

I'd like to introduce you all to my favourite on-air personality at the moment.See, I'm not particularly a radio person. You know some people go out of their way to tune in to a particular programme or listen to a particular presenter...that's not me...really. The only on-air personality I used to be into was Shola Thompson of Rhythm 93.7 until he left. And since then I've never really bothered with the radio. But a couple of weeks ago, while riding in a friends car, I listened to a programme presented by a lady on WAZOBIA FM and enjoyed myself thoroughly. And I've been listening to her ever since.I went out of my way to get to know her and she's one of the most interesting people I've ever met.I sent someone to interview her a couple of days ago (for the magazine), and here are some of the things she had to say about herself.Matse in her own words..."I am the first of many children, in my twenties and an Itsekiri by tribe from Delta state. An introvert with spontaneous bursts of adrenalin. I am a bit weird too (laughs). I enjoy rock and classicals.I am an ardent listener with a vivid imagination. I grew up painting scenes and images in my head. I am very creative...I can paint, write poems and of course host radio shows. I am the Afternoon show host on 95.1 Wazobia Fm and I am popularly know as "MATSE". I am easy to tell apart from other broadcasters because of my voice and distinct style. I dabble into family affairs and matters of the heart, which I know is the everyday happenings in people's lives. I also host a musical program called Peoples Choice every Thursday. Some have tagged me the radio equivalent of Oprah Winfrey lol.I am pretty new in the entertainment business. Actually working as a radio presenter came by chance but I am glad I grabbed the opportunity. It totally showcases my talents and abilities. Radio is for people with a lot of spontaneity and that, I have got in abundance.Six months into the job I got an award from an independent body as "The most captivating presenter of this generation". Lots of letters of commendation from private institutions and government bodies and presently, I am hoping to be among the nominees for on-air personalities in the Future awards.Naturally I am a go-getter, I don't quit until I get to the end, I love to get results and I love to please my fans."And above all, she's a sweetheart. If you're in Lagos, tune in to the afternoon drive every day to listen to Matse on 95.1 WAZOBIA FM and if you have the time, please nominate her for FUTURE AWARDS ON-AIR PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR. She deserves it.Moving on, a few people have been asking for pictures from the official unveiling of the new Virgin Nigeria uniforms. I haven't had time to go bother them there, but because you asked, will get you the pictures as soon as possible. It's still the best choreography job I've done this year. Just two days of rehearsal (with professional models I might add) and a whole lot of money...lolThere was a show I choreographed for a Telecoms company two weeks ago and I wanted to run mad. I usually provide models for shows I choreograph but this people brought in their models...who had no clue. Luckily I work with guys who know how to choreograph so I passed the job onto them.Oh by the way, I got into a fight today. I usually don't bother with my modeling agency (my sister runs it) but I had to bother this time around. My company provided 36 models for a road show which ended a week ago. They were supposed to be paid a certain amount of money only for them to give me a cheque minus 15grand on each model. Why the reduction I asked? Because the models did this and did that and they were being punished they explained. You want to punish them by reducing their money I asked? Yes they replied.A BIG LOL.Thank goodness I've been in the modeling business for ten years, that one is what I call play play. Please people calculate 15grand X 36 people. How much is that? You want to take out a whole N15, 000 from models who worked tirelessly for three weeks, because they refused to do a particular thing you asked them to do? What kind of bladdy excuse is that? Who keeps the money by the way?It can't happen sha, not while I'm their agent...laiye laiye.I told my sister to return the cheque and I told them categorically that no Naira will be removed from any models money...not even 1kobo.It's so sad the way people try to exploit models in this country. I never tolerated it as a model and I will not tolerate it as a model manager. You know the funniest part? If this models didn't have an agent, this money would have been taken from their salaries despite the fact that they signed a contract even before they left Lagos for the job...and nobody would have done anything about it.The things I see and hear in this business...It's called the crazy world of modeling...lolPhotos of the dayStill remember the 7 children of the Trapp family? The 7 Children In 'The Sound of Music' - After 40 Years The Sound of Music' is a 1965 film. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1965and is one of the most popular musicals ever produced. They were having a reunion after 40 years and all were looking healthy and amazingly well.God is great! Be blessed everyone.See y'all later.nigerianbloggers.com

3 Vote(s)
