Ok it has been quite an eventful week in Nigeria. The internet has been buzzing over the recent Inauguration and everything related to it, whether directly or indirectly.
Politics
First we want to congratulate the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on his successful inauguration for his second term in office. We also congratulate all the governors who we’re also re-elected into office. Former President Ibrahim Babangida and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar were absent at the swearing-in ceremony.
The inauguration ceremonies in the Federal Capital Territory all went well without any attacks probably thanks to the government blocking all mobile networks the day of the event. This didn’t stop attacks in other parts of Northern Nigeria which Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for. When will the bombing stop?
Speaker Dimeji Bankole has also been in the news in the N10b Saga and resisting arrest by the EFCC. He has promised to honor the EFCC’s invitation on Monday.
There has also been a lot of hoopla over the President’s Ministerial List.
Sports
The Super Eagles also did us proud by thumping Argentina 4-1 in the Guiness VIP friendly match in Abuja. There has since been some protest to how FIFA reported the match by calling Argentina’s squad Team B and also an investigation by FIFA into possible betting irregularities and match fixing.
