The website of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has been hacked by a group named NaijaCyberHactivists over their role in (Read more…) the nationwide protests on fuel subsidy removal.
The attack which took place at about 11:50am (GMT +1) on Friday was in protest of the action of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in sabotaging the recent #OccupyNigeria mass protests.
It would be recalled that the NLC and the TUC suspended the strike action on January 16, following a unilateral agreement with the government to reduce the pump price of petrol to N97 from N141 per litre.
Before and during the negotiations, the NLC and the TUC had maintained that their mandate was the reversal to N65 per litre.
Here’s a message from NaijaCyberHactivists on the NLC defaced website:
Dear Traitors – NLC & TUC,
Ten days ago, you sold your souls to the evil that has kept our country down
Our people rose in their numbers against the oppression of the looting class and you pretended to join the cause.
All we needed from you was to keep the work places closed while we took over the streets but you made yourselves the pawn.
With the lootocrats you connived and delivered a blow to our street struggle. You deprived the people of the greatest opportunity and now you deserve our curse.
The struggle lives on, we have only taken it off the Park/
Our spirit rages on, yours may dwell with their evil in the dark//
We will fight to the last. We will fight with our body, our minds and soul/
This is nothing but a reminder that the war for a new Nigeria will be fought across all fronts and a common goal//
We will do everything for a just and egalitarian society.
You Labour will not labour in vain because you will reap the fruits from the seeds of shame you have sown.
You will harvest shame and dishonour for selling a nation’s destiny over a morsel of appointments.
We are coming for you, this is just the beginning. We will not tire, we will not falter, we will not fail.
There is room for your redemption but you will never be redeemed until forever and a day more
THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!
Here’s what the NLC website looked like before the hack this morning:
Recently, the group also defaced the website of the Federal Ministry of Transport as well as two Nigerian government websites back in May 2011 and the website of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in October 2011.
